When to test for Coronavirus
Not everyone needs to be tested for COVID-19. Here is some information that might help in making decisions about seeking care or testing:
There is no treatment yet approved for the COVID-19 virus.
Most people have mild illness and are able to recover at home.
- However, test results may help you decide who to come in contact with.
If you are sick with COVID-19 or suspect you are infected with the Coronavirus , you should take steps to help prevent the disease from spreading to people in your home and community.
If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 or develop a fever, cough, or have shortness of breath, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.
Seek immediate medical attention or call 911 f you develop emergency warning signs, such as:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
